Word Forge Copywriting Newsletter20 January 2010 – Good Morning, Lancashire!Every now and again something rather unexpected happens at Word Forge. A perfect example of that came yesterday when BBC Radio Lancashire’s Sally Naden called and asked if Word Forge’s resident wordsmith Mike Brown could sit in on her show as one of her guests.
15th December 2009 – Should Have Seen it ComingWord Forge has been hard at work crafting copy for a most unusual website. Annie Rose is an illustrator with a passion for fortune telling oracle cards and she’s now selling her stunning designs via her website at: In addition to the web-copy Word Forge has worked on a series of press releases to spread the word. And we’re delighted to say that every one of them has generated a result, with articles being planned in numerous publications over the next couple of weeks. We’re used to getting results – but not even we saw that level of success coming… Of her work with Word Forge, Annie wrote the following: “You have been a pleasure to work with, right through the process, and have guided me every step of the way…” You can read the rest of what Annie had to say on our testimonials page. 2nd December 2009 – Angels & GherkinsBAE Systems’ Global Combat Systems, Munitions Division needed an exciting campaign to encourage their people to submit ideas for a new Gate Guardian project. The Division has three sites around the country and the aim is to place a striking, compelling design outside each. With design by Think! Creative UK, Word Forge provided the words to a campaign every bit as striking as the winning entry, which utilised some rather famous landmarks. You can view the results by clicking gherkin or angel. 27th November 2009 - The Writer’s WriterWhen Fit-to-Print writer Ali Turnbull wanted a few thoughts on some copy she was putting together she turned to Word Forge for a second opinion – and we happily obliged. “#followfriday and 1000th tweet @word_forge - even when you think you've written great copy he can make it brilliant” Thanks Ali! 20th November 2009 – the Rice of LifeRicelife has a mission. They aim to bring Thai Hom Mali Rice, generally regarded as the world’s finest rice, to a UK market – and Directors David and Pim Kerr asked Word Forge to lend a hand. Word Forge contributed web copy and direct mail material with impressive results – all of which has lead to happy Directors, happy wholesalers and happy restaurateurs. You can view Word Forge’s web copy for Ricelife at www.ricelife.co.uk 27th October 2009 – Access All AreasLoan Accepted needed some new copy for its ‘parent’ site Financial Access. Financial Access is a specialist financial broker site whose revolutionary ‘conversion engine’ can dramatically improve the chances of a broker finding the right deal for their clients – and the words are by Word Forge. Managing Director, Paul Worsley Tweeted: “Word Forge is Highly Recommended by www.loanaccepted.co.uk” Thanks Paul, and you can view the copy by clicking here and selecting ‘Financial Access’ 4th September 2009 - Not feeling ourselves…Word Forge isn’t feeling quite itself at the moment. Normally that’s not a good thing but in this case it most definitely is. That’s because Word Forge’s Mike Brown will be spending the next few months ghost-writing an autobiography - so getting into the mind of the subject (who shall, of course, remain nameless) is absolutely crucial. “It’s yet another step towards where we want Word Forge to be as the copywriters of choice for the north-west,” said Mike. “We’re receiving such good feedback at the moment that we really just need to continue generating momentum and, I hope, generating business. This commission is, I think, another indicator of our growing reputation.” The autobiography is the first product of Word Forge’s collaboration with The Copywriting Company (see earlier news). 30th August 2009 - Our number’s up…Word Forge wants to make it easier (and cheaper) for our customers to contact us. So from today we can proudly say that not only will we make words work for you, but we’ll even save you money on the phone call. That’s because Word Forge has got itself a brand-spanking new 0844 telephone number which means that calls from landlines are at a lo-call rate of just 5p per minute. You know what’s next: charges from mobiles will vary so please check with your service provider for details. That means you can now talk to Word Forge about your particular project until the cows come home and it won’t break the bank. Exceptional copy at great value with a great value call-rate to boot. Call Word Forge now on 0844 504 9709 and start making words work for you. August 2009 - Word Forge teams up!Copywriting is, you would think, a solitary activity with little room for teamwork. But Word Forge is bucking convention by accepting an invitation to join the highly respected Copywriting Company as an associate writer. “Word Forge remains a freelance writing house,” explained copywriter Mike Brown, “but Copywriting Company has a great reputation and we’re proud to be associated with them. “It’s an even greater honour considering our short history but they like what we do, we like what they do, and it’s an opportunity to bring our writing to an ever-wider audience.” Word Forge will continue to offer all its current services and will join Copywriting Company’s team as a freelance ghost-writer this autumn. 1st August 2009 – not just written in the stars…Word Forge has been busy predicting its future. We will, it seems, find ourselves copywriting for a new sensation in the world of oracle cards and help a fledgling business take on the world. It’s possible we’ll also discover love on the No 24 bus and find the number 14 lucky. Well at least some of that has come to pass. Annie Rose is an illustrator with a passionate belief in the power of her particular choice of divination: oracle cards. Annie Rose’s hand-painted cards have already caused a stir when they were seen on tv earlier this year and they’re now set to become a sensation on the world stage as Annie launches her latest card range ‘A Love for all Seasons’ on her new website. And you don’t need great predictive powers to guess that Word Forge has been asked to provide the copywriting. The site will be launching late September. More news then… 7th July 2009 – Word Forge goes global!Word Forge may still be new, but its copywriting is being used by ever-larger client companies. And they don’t come any larger than BAE Systems, for whom Word Forge has been commissioned to provide the copy for their Shared Services division brochure. Working in partnership with project leader Think! Creative, Word Forge will add its inimitable copywriting style to a project of significant prestige. Of the commission, Word Forge chief, Mike Brown said, “Our business plan sees us targeting blue chip companies in around 12 months time. With this marvellous opportunity to partner Think! Creative in working with BAE Systems you might say we’re ahead of schedule! We’re now looking to use the momentum this commission has given us to expand our blue chip portfolio.”
